High school students visited our booth at the 23rd World Petroleum Congress to learn how we use STEM and what a future career in the oil and gas industry could look like. A group from the Pasadena Independent School District had the opportunity to see augmented reality (AR) in action through a live hook-up with field workers in North Dakota and had a hands-on experience operating Spot the robotic Dog, which was fresh from a deployment on an offshore platform in the Gulf of Mexico.

Hess sponsored the 23rd World Petroleum Congress Young Professional’s legacy tree planting event. Hess members of the WPC Young Professionals group coordinated the event, partnering with Trees for Houston to plant 60-100 trees in an underserved community. The tree planting took place Saturday, December 4, 2021 at John R. Harris Park in Houston. The project leaves a lasting positive impact on the local community and the environment.

Hess welcomed Spot the Dog to our 23rd World Petroleum Congress booth on December 7, 2021. We are using Spot and other agile robots to explore a range of artificial intelligence (AI) applications by collecting reliable, repeatable data from our operations. We are working to create an autonomous, self-optimizing oil field leveraging multiple technologies to increase efficiency, improve reliability and reduce environmental impact.
