Our Approach to Corporate Sustainability Reporting
Hess aims to be to be top quartile in our sector for the quality of our disclosures on our sustainability performance and programs. We have aligned our annual corporate sustainability reports with the Global Reporting Initiative’s G3 guidelines at the A+ application level. Our reporting is also consistent with the 2010 International Petroleum Industry Environmental Conservation Association (IPIECA)/American Petroleum Institute (API) and Oil and Gas Industry Guidance on Voluntary Sustainability Reporting.
The Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) is a non-profit organization that promotes economic, environmental and social sustainability. IPIECA is the global oil and gas industry association for environmental and social issues.
Hess endorses the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC). We make our annual corporate sustainability report available on the UNGC web site, where it serves as our Communication on Progress in implementing the UNGC principles. The UN Global Compact is a strategic policy initiative for businesses that are committed to aligning their operations and strategies with ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labor, environment and anti-corruption.
We also respond annually to information requests from the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) on corporate climate change and water management and performance. The Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) is an independent not-for-profit organization working to drive greenhouse gas emissions reduction and sustainable water use by business and cities. CDP holds the largest collection globally of self-reported climate change data. 2012 Report
