Shankar, Foundation Engineer, Kuala Lumpur: "I’m a mechanical engineer. I am attached to the developments team in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.  Now I like the fact that I can solve problems and be part of teams that solve problems. For example, in Malaysia, one of the objectives of the government is to increase the living standards of the citizens in the country. And the key backbone to doing this is adequate energy supply. And without this there will be no investment. There would be no new companies willing to invest and create new factories. And, as a result, there will be no job creation. So this is where the energy industry comes into the big picture. The goal of this project is to develop a network of gas fields and export into peninsula Malaysia. The work that I’m doing is going to contribute to producing this gas and to solving the energy needs of the country. For all engineers the key goal is to solve problems. I find it to be very satisfying to know that what I’m doing at work has an end benefit, has an objective. So I know that I’m doing something that is beneficial."
