We have just published our 2014 Corporate Sustainability Report, which details our company’s strategy and performance on significant environmental, social and governance programs and initiatives.

 Our 18th annual report was prepared in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) G3.1 sustainability reporting principles and guidance. For the seventh consecutive year, the report has a self-declared GRI A+ application level that has been third-party assured by ERM Certification and Verification Services.

 In 2014, we

  • Reduced our workforce* lost time incident rate by 14% and our total recordable incident rate by 23% vs. 2013.
  • Enhanced contractor selection by incorporating environment, health and safety reviews into our procurement process.
  • Recognized in the CDP Leadership Index for climate change disclosure for the 6th consecutive year, and for the 5th consecutive year also listed in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index North America.
  • Developed global standards for corporate social responsibility and human rights and began to rollout a standard process for enterprise stakeholder engagement.
  • Focused 80% of our social investments on education projects to help improve the quality of life in local communities in 12 countries.
  • Reduced greenhouse gas emissions by 40% (more than four million tonnes of absolute emissions vs. our 2008 baseline).
  • Offset more than 125% of greenhouse gas emissions associated with 83 million miles of air and rail travel by employees.
  • Recognized as the highest ranking energy company on Corporate Responsibility magazine’s prestigious list of 100 Best Corporate Citizens for the seventh consecutive year.
  • Ranked No. 1 among the greenest U.S. energy producers by Newsweek magazine in its 2014 Green Rankings.
