Hess Corporation is the leading independent retail marketer on the East Coast with over 1,350 HESS-branded retail outlets. The HESS brand at retail outlets has long been identified with outstanding customer service and quality products. That tradition carries on today in our HESS EXPRESS convenience stores. These stores typically lead the industry in inside sales and outside fuel volumes. To meet the ever-changing needs of our customer base, many of the stores have added fast food offerings to complement the proprietary coffee and fountain offers. The stores mission is to provide a 'treat for everyone' by providing an ever-changing variety of convenience items in a fast, fun and family-focused environment.
HOVENSA, a joint venture between a subsidiary of Hess Corporation and a subsidiary of Petroleos de Venezuela, S.A. (PDVSA) operates a world-class merchant refinery in St Croix, USVI. Strategically located in the Caribbean, the refinery has crude oil processing capacity of 495,000 barrels per day (BPD). To take advantage of the production of lighter products, such as gasoline, the refinery also operates a 140,000 BPD fluid catalytic cracking unit, as well as a 58,000 BPD coking unit, which was completed in 2002. The coking unit allows HOVENSA to run lower-cost, heavy crudes to manufacture gasoline and heating oil. The Company also operates a 65,000 BPD fluid catalytic cracking facility in Port Reading, New Jersey, which supplies high quality gasoline and heating oil for Hess retail outlets and terminals in the New York metropolitan area.
The Company has a significant marketing presence in all three major energy commodities: fuel oils, natural gas and electricity. This makes Hess the leading supplier of energy products to commercial and industrial markets along the East Coast. We provide 'one-stop shopping' to customers with reliable supply, as well as flexibility to adjust to today's fast moving fuel market. Marketing is supported by 22 strategically located terminals, comprising the largest terminalling network on the East Coast.
