OVERVIEW Amerada Hess Limited (AHL) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Amerada Hess Corporation. This summary report covers the environmental, health, safety and social responsibility (EHS&SR) aspects of AHL’s UK operations. The change in format over previous years reflects AHL’s incorporation into a larger regional business unit, encompassing Europe, North Africa and Asia and the development of the Corporation’s global EHS&SR reporting. UK data are fully incorporated in the Corporate Report for 2002. Nevertheless it was felt helpful to focus on specific information pertinent to our local stakeholders in a separate summary document. As with our Corporate Report, the information and data provided in this UK summary have been verified by ERM CVS. Supplementary information and a copy of the verification statement can be found at www.hess.com. For the future, the agreement reached in 2003 to transfer the operatorship of the Scott field will have a significant impact on the scale of activities covered in this report. Activities planned for 2003 and referred to in this report are likely to be reviewed in light of this development and future targets will need to be amended accordingly. |
