Delivering Value through Technology: Offshore Inspection Campaign Leverages Subsea CT Scanning Technology

  • Jason Harry, Senior Subsea Engineer
03.17.2016

In today’s challenging industry environment, the use of innovative technology to improve efficiency and optimize performance can be an integral component of a project’s success.

At the Subsea Tieback Conference, hosted March 22–24 in San Antonio, Texas, Jason Harry will discuss how Hess recently applied subsea CT scanning technology to examine high corrosion potential locations along a flowline at an existing Hess asset. The scans provided immediate, accurate wall integrity data including coating, content and pipe densities without interrupting production. The brownfield re-development team was able to confirm wall integrity required for field life extension and also obtain valuable flow assurance data which modified our current chemical injection program.

Harry, Senior Subsea Engineer, Hess Corporation, will trace the sequence of events in our flowline integrity analyses, highlight the key results from the CT scans, discuss the implementation of a chemical strategy for the asset, and share key benefits and lessons learned. He is scheduled to present on Thursday, March 24 at 8 a.m.

Harry is the flow assurance engineer for the Stampede development and for Hess’ brownfield subsea developments. Harry has been with Hess for more than three years and has been in the oil & gas industry for eight years. He is currently enrolled in the University of Houston’s subsea engineering master’s program.
