A magazine focused on supply chain best practices recently highlighted Hess’ application of Lean manufacturing principles. In “Proving Ground,” Hess supply chain professionals discuss how the company is reducing waste and adding value in its supply chain.
Chris Starcke, Senior Manager of GSC Materials and Logistics and Jeff Archer, Hess’ Global Warehouse and Yard Lead, explained how the company is working to create more standardization in its work. They cited the development of standardized workover trailers, Hess’ on-site “material supermarkets”, the right supplier relationships and other innovations. “Devising just-in-time material solutions helps us operate more like a manufacturing assembly line, improving our ability to bring wells online and perform maintenance faster, safer and with much less cost,” Archer said.
