It has come to our attention that certain individuals or groups of individuals have been fraudulently offering false employment opportunities within the Hess group of companies.

Many of the details of these false offers may appear convincing. For example:

	the legitimate office addresses of the Hess Corporation or its subsidiaries may be quoted;
	websites and e-mail addresses that could be taken to resemble URLs and user/domain names registered to Hess companies appear in or are used for correspondence;
	false letterheads have been created using Hess’ registered trademark.

Some of the e-mail addresses used in the fraud have included Hess in the title but have been sent from Yahoo, Gmail, Hotmail or other free internet mail accounts. We have also seen a number of addresses that use the e-mail domain name hessscorp.org.

Correspondence using such e-mails and URLs is not legitimate or associated in any way with the Hess group of companies. All statements and representations made in such correspondence are not made on behalf of or with the authorization of Hess Corporation or any of its affiliated companies.

In the legitimate course of its business, Hess uses a variety of recruitment methods. These are primarily through our website www.hess.com, newspaper and online advertising, established recruitment agencies and search firms. However, before any offers of employment are made a thorough recruitment process will have been conducted. In particular:

	offers of employment will never be made prior to formal contact from the company, including an interview with company representatives;
	Hess e-mail correspondence will only ever be conducted from an e-mail with the construct, [username]@hess.com.
	at no stage are those recruited by Hess requested or required to pay fees, advances or other facilitating payments to the company or its agents.
